Workshops & Traditional Skills

Explore our hands-on, culturally rooted workshops in plant medicine and land based teachings.

Medicine Making Program – kimaskihkîhkân

Join us for a two-day gathering that blends Cree traditional medicine with modern herbology. We begin with an offering to the land and a medicine prayer song, honoring the ancestors and the medicines. A guided walk on the land helps us learn about the local plants we use for healing, deepening our relationship to the earth and to one another. The first day centers on external preparations, with hands-on work making plant-infused oils, salves, lotions, and gels, guided by a knowledge keeper.

Day two moves from external preparations to simple internal remedies—safe, everyday formulations for cold and flu support, sleep, and gentle pain relief—built through collaborative learning. We return to the land for a unique practice that directly demonstrates how the plants to speak in their own way and helps us hear their songs together, strengthening our connection to the medicines, to the land, and to one another. The workshop centers on lived Cree knowledge, reciprocity, and respectful stewardship of our medicinal traditions.
